Flag now on display on exterior of Fayette Community Hospital By JOHN
MUNFORD
An American flag is now on display on the exterior of Fayette Community Hospital, and hospital officials have ordered a flagpole and lighting system to keep the flag on permanent display. "It was never a question about whether we would do it (display the flag), but how we would do it," hospital spokeswoman Ryan Duffy said Thursday morning. Officals plan to have the flagpole erected shortly, Ryan said. In an interview last week, Duffy said hospital officials were weighing the costs of purchasing equipment to display the flag with the need to purchase other medical equipment. But hospital officials decided to purchase a flag pole and lighting system before the article was published in Wednesday's paper, Duffy confirmed. The Citizen was not made aware of that development until Wednesday morning after the paper had already been published. "Here at Fayette Community Hospital we continue to focus on our mission of quality patient care, but we also proudly display the symbol of our flag to support our troops not only from our community but also our country," Duffy added.
