A 15-year-old Peachtree City girl has been cited by police for driving a golf cart recklessly after the cart flipped over Thursday evening, seriously injuring one of the passengers, according to police.

And less than an hour later, another golf cart accident with a 15-year-old driver was recorded.

The first crash occurred on the cart path along Waterwood Bend near Nettlecure Court, according to the report. Police determined the cart was attempting to negotiate a curve at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The driver and all three passengers were ejected from the vehicle, the report stated. One of the passengers was pinned under the vehicle, according to the report. Each of the passengers was 16 or younger, the report stated.

The driver was cited for reckless driving, police said.

The second crash occurred near the cart path tunnel under Ga. Highway 54 at the Crossings East shopping center. The 15-year-old driver's cart collided with another vehicle that was headed in the opposite direction, the report indicates.

No injuries were reported but the 15-year-old driver admitted he was on the wrong side of the cart path and was driving too fast, the report states.

Charges in that case are pending, police said.

The City Council agreed last year to allow 15-year-olds to drive golf carts unsupervised as long as they carried a valid Georgia learner's permit.
