Second sign for hhgregg shot down by Fville council By JOHN
MUNFORD The Fayette Pavilion's newest store won't be getting the second sign it wants. Appliance and electronics store hhgregg was denied a variance for another sign at last week's Fayetteville City Council meeting. Store officials wanted permission to erect a sign on the side of the store facing Ga. Highway 314. The store's main sign, which has letters six feet tall, faces Pavilion Parkway. The secondary sign proposed by company officials would have been slightly smaller, with letters five feet tall. A company representative noted that other stores in the Pavilion have been allowed to have two signs and that hhgregg officials were told by the developer that they would be allowed to have a second sign facing Hwy. 314. "You probably should have checked a little further," said councilman Larry Dell. City officials pointed out that Pavilion stores with signs on two frontages were built when that land was part of the county, which has different sign regulations than the city does. Those stores, including Kohl's Department Store and Just for Feet, are now part of the city due to a recent annexation.
