Moreland sets storytelling event By CAROLYN
CARY
In honor of Erskine Caldwell's 100 birthday, the Erskine Caldwell Museum committee has set a storytelling event for tomorrow at Moreland Elementary School, featuring writers Margaret Anne Barnes and Dot Moore. They will share stories from their writing experiences and a book signing will also take place. Barnes is known for her "Murder in Coweta County" and "A Buzzard is My Best Friend." Moore wrote "Oracle of the Ages," an acclaimed biography of Mayhayley Lancaster which won the Georgia Historical Society's book award. The program begins at 2 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. with light refreshments being served during the book signing. "We can't think of a better way to celebrate Caldwelal's 100th birthday than to celebrate what is special and unique about Southern writing and storytelling," said museum committee chairman Winston Skinner. Caldwell wrote more than 50 books, including "God's Little Acre" and "Tobacco Road." The museum collection includes numerous Caldwell books in many languages, photographs, theater programs and items that belonged to Caldwell and his family. Admission to the event is free.
