Coweta County Schools Superintendent Peggy Connell has announced two administrative appointments for the 2003-04 school year, following action by the Coweta County Board of Education at a March 25 called meeting.

The new assistant principals approved by the board begin their positions July 1.

The announcements include:

Neal Sessions, eighth-grade teacher at Madras Middle School, will become assistant principal at East Coweta High School.

Melissa Wimbish, fifth-grade teacher at Ruth Hill Elementary School will become assistant principal at O.P. Evans Middle School. Wimbish takes the position at Evans offered originally to Elnora Battle, assistant principal of Elm Street Elementary School. Battle declined the offer in order to return to the classroom.

Also, Dillia Smith, third-grade teacher at White Oak Elementary, will become assistant principal at Ruth Hill Elementary. Smith's announcement did not appear on the March 19 announcements for new administrative positions.

All appointment become effective July 1 for the 2003-04 school year.

There are two major leadership positions unfilled in the school system, including that of Director of High School Program at the Central Educational Center, and Principal of Madras Principal. Interviews for those positions are ongoing.
