Habitat staging warehouse sale

Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity has a warehouse jam-packed with items to be sold at their first warehouse sale to be held in Senoia tomorrow from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

"There is even plenty for men, especially if they're working on those spring home improvement projects. We have doors, brand new bathtubs, cabinets, appliances, work and garden gloves, flooring, lots of paint and much more. Plus we have plenty of those typical yard sale items. Great stuff can be purchased at fabulous prices all to benefit a worthy cause," said organizer Claire Berube.

All funds raised at the sale will be used to help build, decent quality house for Brenda Rosser and her family. Brenda and her two teenagers, Candice and Adrian, have been working with Habitat since last April.

As a single parent, Brenda works hard to provide for her family. She has been employed by Bonnell Corporation for over 25 years and is currently working a six-day workweek.

Even given her busy work schedule Brenda and her family have earned over 100 of their required 300 hours of sweat equity, working on site, folding newsletters and any number of other tasks.

"They are truly partnering with us toward the dream of a new home," said Melanie Gross, executive director of Habitat in Coweta.

"Brenda and her children currently live with her mother and brothers. There are only three bedrooms for five adults and two teenage children, obviously inadequate by today's standards."

Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanit is locally organized and operated. Houses are sold to qualified low-income families with no-interest mortgages.

The organization has been adding strength and hope to the Coweta community for almost 10 years.

"Our 20th house will be completed in just a couple of weeks" said local Habitat board president Suzanne Pengelly, "making it possible for 36 adults and 49 children to have pride in owning their very own home."

Paul McKnight, Jr. has donated the warehouse space that Habitat has been using for the past year and a half. The warehouse is located in Senoia at Morgan and Broad Streets, one block off of Ga. Highway. 16 and just down the street from the Post Office.
