Coweta leaders breakfast next week By JOHN
THOMPSON The first local action from last month's government retreat in Athens is taking place next week. Coweta governmental officials announced this week the staging of the first Coweta County Elected Officials breakfast. The meeting is set for Tuesday at the Coweta County Fairgrounds on Pine Road. During the retreat in Athens, Coweta County School Board member Brian Roy offered to help organize the breakfast. Roy said the breakfast - which he hopes to be the first of many such quarterly meetings - is meant to provide local officials a chance to continue the cooperative spirit fostered at the recent retreat. The breakfast is open to all elected officials representing Coweta County or any of its entities, including state and federal elected officials that represent our County. "In the past, officials county-wide used to hold events like this occasionally, just as a time to get together and break bread and get to know one another personally," said Roy. "The purpose of this breakfast is the same - it's an opportunity to gather for a friendly time of fellowship and promote communication between the different entities." Roy said the breakfast won't have a formal agenda. "It's just a time to continue informal discussions about the issues that affect all of us and, most of all, to continue developing the good working relationships we began in Athens. It's good for us and good for all of our constituents that we have that kind of cooperative relationship." Two Coweta County companies - Buffalo Rock and the Excel Corporation - are sponsoring the first breakfast.
