Senoia cleanup days set for April

Senoia residents have two opportunities next month to help clean up the city.

The city has decided to participate in the Great American Cleanup and will be accepting miscellanous household trash from residents April 5 and 12.

The cleanup runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the city shop at 105 Clark Street.

Residents will be charged $5 per load, and the cleanup offers residents a chance to get rid of household items that are too large for regular weekly trash pickup.

In order to participate, you must be a city resident and bring either a warer bill or receipt to show proof of residency.

City clerk Debbie Hogan emphasized the city will not be accepting tires, construction or wet paint cans. Dry, empty paint cans will be accepted after they are inspected by city officials.

This is the first year the city is participating in the program, and city officials are hopeful it will become a least an annual event. The city leaders are currently investigating a system to get rid of half-full paint cans and tires.

"This is a great chance to clean up the city," said Mayor Dianne Cleveland.
