Brooks Elem. stages T-shirt paradeBrooks Elementary students and staff showed off their positive attributes by taking part in a musical parade of T-shirts as one of their activities connected to the Casey Positive Label program. Each T-shirt sported a positive word and image painted on it that the students and staff had selected to describe themselves. Both students and teachers report that the program has helped to create unity, personal pride and improved demeanor at the school. "It made a big difference to us that the adults were doing the program, too. When we saw them being more kind and setting a good example, I said, 'Whoa, this must be serious.' It mattered a lot," said fourth-grader Ethon Barnard. Brooks now joins a growing list of schools in Fayette that have become positive label certified. The school and its T-shirt activity are featured in an article about positive, heartwarming art entitled "Art from the Heart" in the March 17 edition of Arts and Expressions Magazine, which serves Clayton, Coweta, Fulton and Fayette counties.
