As more U.S. troops are being deployed overseas, students at Kedron Elementary are letting soldiers know that they support their efforts by writing letters and sending care packages.

Chrissy Cates' and Kate Godbois' first grade classes, along with Teresa Yates' kindergarten class, have been busy writing letters to soldiers serving in Kuwait. The letters are being addressed to "any soldier" and the classes have specified that they are to be delivered to men and women who have not received much mail or support for their sacrifices.

"We have already received correspondence back from various soldiers who were touched by the kindness of our students," says Cates. "This all hits close to home for me as my husband is in the Army and stationed at Ft. McPherson. He is still with us and has yet to be deployed but a good friend of our family, Maj. Boyd of Peachtree City, also stationed at Ft. McPherson, has been deployed and is now in Kuwait. We have all been touched by how excited the students are to do something for our troops."

In addition to the letters, students are also preparing care packages filled with goodies from home for the troops to enjoy. The families of Kedron have donated items for the care packages.
