A Peachtree City man who was caught by police in the middle of burglarizing a bar pled guilty Monday afternoon to five felony counts of burglary as part of a plea bargain agreement.

George Edwin Keithahn, 33, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Superior Court Judge Chritopher C. Edwards after admitting to burglarizing the Hangar 74 bar, where he was caught Aug. 29 by a police officer who spotted him inside the business in the early morning hours before it opened.

Keithahn also admitted to burglarizing Augustino's Ristorante, a doctor's office on McWilliams Drive, a real estate office on Ga. Highway 74 North and a business on Commerce Drive in Fayetteville during a two-month time frame prior to his arrest.

Keithahn was spotted inside Hangar 74 around 5:30 a.m., well before the bar opened for business, police said. The arrest came during a special surveillance of businesses in the area as officers tried to stem multiple burglaries that had been occurring in the area.

At the time of the arrest, Peachtree City Police Chief James Murray said Keithahn would target businesses which either didn't have burglar alarms or didn't set their burglar alarm system.

In exchange for the guilty pleas on the five burglary counts, prosecutors agreed to drop eight other felony counts of burglary and a charge for possession of tools used for the commission of a crime. Keithahn also pled guilty to possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), a misdemeanor.
