Wednesday, March 12, 2003 Monarch Village to host Designer Kitchen Showcase March 22-23, 29-30 Kitchens are becoming the hub of the household, and with good reason. Kitchens have become multi-use rooms, often connected to family rooms and eating areas, while traditional living and dining rooms are going the way of the smoking parlor. Visit the free Designer Kitchen Showcase at Monarch Village, March 22-23, 29-30 from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on Sundays, and see many trend-setting kitchens in homes ranging in price from the $130s to over $400,000. According to Peggy Sullivan, vice president of marketing at Pathway Communities, the developer of Monarch Village, the kitchen has become more than a place to cook and eat. "The kitchen has evolved into the central gathering place in the home," said Sullivan. "From entertaining to e-mailing, the kitchen has become a room with many uses. And the Kitchen Showcase will give home buyers a glimpse of what today's homebuilders are doing to address the new kitchen revolution." In addition, Walker Nursery will be exhibiting a herb garden at the Monarch Village Information Center to give showcase-goers great ideas on in-home gardening to spice up that special recipe or simply add a fragrant appeal to the home. Monarch's variety of kitchen plans is complemented by its selection of home styles, ranging from turn-of-the-century to traditional to custom, and its assortment of recreational opportunities. In addition to the first-class water park featuring a slide tower and water mushroom, Monarch Village has a 16-acre lake with boating and fishing facilities, a soccer field, basketball courts, a variety of neighborhood parks and tot lots and miles of walking trails and sidewalks. An on-site elementary school at Monarch Village will open in 2004. All Kitchen Showcase visitors can register to win a $250 gift certificate to Target.
