Booth educator honored
Tammy Pakulski, a seventh grade science teacher at Booth Middle School in Peachtree City, has been named the Georgia Middle School Science Teacher of the Year. The Georgia Science Teachers Association selected Pakulski based on her creative, hands-on activities that challenge her students to use higher level thinking skills. "It was a great honor, representing the state," Pakulski said. "We have good kids to work with." She was nominated by Assistant Principal Rae Presley-King, science teacher Mary Wilde, and a student. "Tammy epitomizes what a teacher should be: organized and cooperative, with high expectations and a high level of teaching," a fellow teacher reported. Pakulski has been at Booth for two years, and she taught at Flat Rock Middle School for five years. Her principal at Booth is Lyn Wenzel.
