School Food Assciation elects officers
Members of the Fayette County School Food Services Association (FCSFSA) have elected their new executive board for the year 2003-2004. The newly elected board members are Janice Smith, president, cafeteria manager at McIntosh High; Bonnie Kanofsky, president elect, cafeteria manager at Cleveland Elementary; Ashley Smith, secretary, cafeteria manager at Peachtree City Elementary and Elizabeth Cates, treasurer, school nutrition assistant at Tyrone Elementary. FCSFSA has been in existence for 20 years and is dedicated to advancing the availability, quality and acceptance of school nutrition programs as an integral part of education. The organization's vision is to ensure that healthful school meals and nutrition education are available to all students as part of Fayette's total educational program. Members of the association are pledged to contributing to the improvement of school, community and national health by participating in legislative measures that enhance school nutrition as well as promoting nutritional health by being actively involved in local philanthropies. Some of the activities FCSFSA members have participated in include donating canned food to the Good Samaritans, taking part in the annual American Heart Association's Heart Walk in Atlanta as well as making donations to the Fayette County Pregnancy Resource Center and Department of Family and Children Services. This spring the association will participate in the American Diabetic Association's walk for diabetes in Peachtree City.
