Ninth-grade orientation set for Starr's Mill

Starr's Mill High School will hold an orientation for rising ninth-graders, and their parents, who will be attending the school next fall.

The orientation is scheduled for Thursday, March 20, from 6:30-8 p.m.

The purpose of the orientation is to provide information to parents and students about the transition from 8th to 9th grade and the registration process, as well as to answer questions.

The orientation will start with a 15-minute introduction in the school's gym. Afterwards parents and students will go to one of five breakout sessions where they will receive information and have the opportunity to ask questions. At each breakout group there will be an administrator, a guidance counselor and high school seniors to provide information and field questions for about 45 minutes.

A freshman fair will follow the breakout sessions where representatives from the curriculum departments and school organizations and clubs will be available to provide information and answer questions about the wide variety of extracurricular activities available.

Starr's Mill High is looking forward to meeting all of its new freshmen and their parents March 20. Call 770-486-2710, ext. 102, for more information.
