Rally for our troops set for F'ville on Saturday By MONROE ROARK
Red, white and blue will be the prominent colors on display Saturday at Heritage Park in Fayetteville. A "Freedom Isn't Free" rally is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the park, adjacent to the Stonewall Avenue county government complex. Organizers are looking for participation from anyone and everyone who is interested in coming out to support their country, their troops and their president. A color guard will be provided by the Fayetteville Police Department, and the Peachtree Wind Ensemble will be on hand, conducted by Navy veteran John Miller, for special music. Vocalist Delacy Wilkins is also scheduled to be part of the musical lineup. Organizers of the rally are lining up a number of military veterans to speak, including retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Jack Wheeler, a Fayette County resident. The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars are lending their support to the rally. Participants and spectators are encouraged to wear red, white and blue at the event. Anyone who wishes to make a sign for display is also encouraged to do so. Rally organizers expect to have a banner erected at the park by today to publicize the event. For more information on participating, call 770-716-0200, 678-481-5635 or e-mail thelitigator@bellsouth.net. In PTC, $5000 is going to the dogs' (park)
