Art auction to benefit AID Atlanta

Art fans can bid on creative works of art and support a good cause during the 5th Annual "Art for AIDS" Auction March 13 in the Fulton County Government Center Atrium, 141 Pryor Street, SW, Atlanta.

A project of AID Atlanta in conjunction with the employees of the Fulton County Human Services Department, "Art for AIDS" raises funds to help homeless persons with AIDS. The auction collected nearly $42,000 in 2002.

The 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. silent and live auction will feature paintings, sketches, sculpture, mosaics, masks and photographs donated by local galleries and professional artists, as well as work created by participants at Jefferson Place, a men's emergency and transitional shelter operated by the Human Services Department.

Proceeds benefit AID Atlanta's Street Home Program, which works with Mercy Mobile Health Care and Project Open Hand to help provide housing, meals, substance abuse counseling, employment and literacy training, and other services.

Donations of original artwork for the auction will continue to be accepted through 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 11.
