Tax Day is coming: CCSU volunteer program can help

We look forward to holidays, we look forward to birthdays, but seldom do we look forward to Tax Day. To help you cope with Apr. 15, the most dreaded date on the calendar, Clayton College and State University's Accounting Club invites you to its 13th annual (and free) VITA program in the University's Student Center.

VITA - the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program - will offer free assistance on income tax returns and income tax preparation on the following dates: Thursday, Mar. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; and Saturday, Mar. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"After extensive required training from the IRS, we have a total of 15 volunteers that are capable and eager to help the students, staff, and the community," explained Clayton State student Pricilla Cooper, the 2002-2003 president of Clayton State's Accounting Club. "In providing free tax assistance, we help the community understand and meet their tax responsibilities and show them how to apply the tax law with integrity."

The Clayton State Accounting Club promotes interest in the accounting profession and interface with the business community. The club provides students with opportunities to become better acquainted with accounting practitioners, the accounting faculty, and other interested students. The club also serves the community through the VITA program and other service opportunities.
