Senoia agrees with county's moratorium

Senoia's City Council sent a clear message to the Coweta County Commission Monday night.

By a unanimous vote, the City Council agreed with the county's position to call for a six-month study on growth and halt all new building permits.

Councilman Robert Hannah told the council that Commissioner Greg Tarbutton wanted the study period for all municipalities, along with the county, to study the growth pattern and devise a strategy to deal with the growth.

Senoia is currently in the middle of its own development moratorium, which is set to expire in April. If the county's moratorium is adopted, the city's would continue for another five months.

But the county's study and moratorium period will only be adopted if all the county's cities agree to it. If not, the study period ends March 20.

"I think it's a good thing to allow us all to form some plans," Hannah said.

The City Council agreed and instructed city clerk Debbie Hogan to inform the county of the city's vote.
