GCA students excel at spelling bee

Two students from Grace Christian Academy came in first place at the recent Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Spelling Bee held in Marietta.

Eighth-grade student Jeremiah Redman placed first in his division, while seventh-grader Kyle Adcock took second place. The top two students from each grade division then competed in a spell-off to determine who will advance to the regional level. Kyle took first place in the spell-off and will represent Grace Christian Academy at the regional spelling bee next month.

"It's a great benefit that ACSI offers to its member schools," stated GCA Activities Coordinator Sharon Hughes, "to give the students the opportunity to participate in these scholastic events. They are very challenging and competitive."

She went on to note that GCA students also participate each year in a speech meet, a creative writing festival, math Olympics, and a science fair all of which are sponsored through ACSI.
