The Metro Fayette Kiwanis Club, Fayetteville, joined more than 600,000 other adult and youth volunteers in community service during Kiwanis Family month.

The Kiwanis family of service includes adult Kiwanis Clubs, Circle K Clubs for collegians, Key Clubs for high school students, Builders Clubs for junior high and middle school students, K-Kids for elementary school students, and Aktion Clubs for mentally disabled adults.

The Metro Fayette organization sponsors a Key Club at Sandy Creek High School, a Builders Club at Whitewater and Flat Rock middle schools, and a K-Club at Tyrone Elementary.

They support the promotion of ideals of voluntary service as a means to improve lives and give something back to the community.

"We are very proud to sponsor these idealistic and caring young people," said Metro president Forrest Cate. "Kiwanis exists to serve the community, and we believe that one of the most important services we can perform is to pass along the ideals of voluntarism and serving others to the next generation."
