Day of prayer coming up By KNOX HERNDON
In the Old Testament the children of Israel went to God especially in time of war. They would get the spiritual leaders together and they would seek the face of God and find out if and when to go to war. They would listen to their spiritual leaders and some time they would completely shift their strategy in accordance with what the prophets and spiritual leaders said. They would take the Ark of the Covenant with them into battle because the Spirit of the living God resided there. They had learned some very hard lessons so they were very serious about doing what God wanted! We can do something about the threat of war, both in Iraq and with terrorists. In the Old Testament, When the waters parted in the Red Sea it happened as Moses, who was God's man for the hour, did exactly what God told him to do. As a New Testament believer, I believe in the "priesthood of believers." If this is true then I have great responsibility especially now that war seems eminent. The battle before us is a physical one, but rest assured, it is, in my opinion, more of a spiritual one. This can be seen in the protests. Look at what groups are supporting the anti-war campaign and look at their agendas. Since when did the current Hollywood group ever do anything but promote themselves and give themselves awards? Since when did any of them champion any causes that promoted anything good in America other than getting their pictures in the press and saving Whales and trees? Naturally the "Clintonites" along with all the other "ites" mentioned in the scriptures will be a part of the "find out what the President is doing right and be 100 percent against it" group. These are the groups that the "deceiver" uses to keep America from it's greatest potential. Never be a part of any of it because you will be working for the deceiver who will only do you harm. Did you know that God's Word says "touch not mine anointed?" I will go on and say it here. I strongly believe that President Bush is God's anointed man for this hour. If you don't believe that just think for a moment what would have happened had the election turned out that Al Gore had won and then 9/11 hits. Ben Laden would have had a weekly talk show. Don't get me started here. There is not enough ink or space to print it! In lieu of all this, I like many of you received an urgent call for 03-03-30 to be a "Worldwide Day of Prayer." This effort is led by The World Prayer Center. They are calling all Christians to a worldwide Day of Prayer for three minutes Monday, March 3. Ted Haffard, President of The World Prayer Team, says his office has been flooded with messages from people all over the world saying that God is impressing upon them to prepare to pray on 03-03-03. "These believers do not know one another, nor are they connected to one another. They do not know that the others are saying the same thing. Clearly, the Holy Spirit is speaking to His church, and He is calling His people to pray," says Haggard. "As these reports began to come in, we sensed in our hearts that God wants us to promote a huge outpouring of prayer on this special date. Many believe there is significance to this date because of its numerical sequence (03-03-03) which reminds many Christians of the Trinity. Moreover, the Holy Spirit has highlighted Jeremiah 33:3 (again, three 3's) as our call to action. 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know'" says Haggard. Our church at this hour will be in prayer and I hope you will join in this effort. We have pledged to pray on 03-03-03 for 3 minutes. Join us! My prayer is that not one drop of blood on either side will be spent. I pray that Saddam will wake up and realize what awaits him and his Godless regime and go into exile for the sake of his people! Listen for the Trumpet for time is short!! The Rev. Dr. Knox Herndon is pastor of His House Community Church (SBC). The Rev. Greg Mausz is senior associate pastor. The Rev. Dr. Lydia Herndon is the Sunday School superintendent, Bible study coordinator and teacher. The church is just below Fayetteville, on Ga. Highway 85, a mile south of Ga.
