Ground broken, benefit concert set for Fayette Field of Hope

Volunteers raising money for a baseball field that will accommodate disabled children broke ground for the project Wednesday afternoon.

The groundbreaking capped a day of events for the Fayette Field of Hope campaign. Kicks 101.5 broadcast live from the Bank of Georgia office to encourage people to stop by and donate to the cause as bank employees and volunteers sold hot dog lunches for $2 each to raise money.

The field will be built of a special synthetic turf which will provide a better playing surface than a normal dirt and grass field.

Kicks 101.5 announced yesterday that it would host a second fund-raising softball tournament Saturday, March 23 in Peachtree City to benefit the Field of Hope. Kicks personalities will take on a team from "another country music station." Country Clash 2 will also feature Lee Greenwood singing the national anthem with a post-game concert.

The concert will feature country stars Sammy Kershaw and Jeff Bates.

The Field of Hope will cost approximately $630,000, and cash donations and in-kind support is still needed. It will serve approximately 30,000 special needs children in south metro Atlanta.
