During Monday night's Fairburn City Council meeting, city attorney Brad Sears swore in Frederick W. Brown of Auburn, Ga., as Fairburn's new police chief

Brown told the City Council he believes that officers can make a difference in the quality of life for the citizens of Fairburn.

His goals for the Fairburn Police Department are to improve morale and operational structure and to provide excellent services to the citizens. He said the first thing he would like to work on is state certification, widening the community effort and expanding a neighborhood watch throughout Fairburn.

Brown was accompanied by his wife and daughter and three visiting police officers from Auburn, Lieutenants Danay Crawford, Lee Lapsky, and Kevin Steinfield.

Brown officially starts his new job Monday.
