Market-driven designs for today's lifestyles

The New American Home 2003 debuted Jan. 21-24 during the National Association of Home Builders' 2003 International Builders' Show in Las Vegas.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the New American Home, for the first time, has taken on a distinctively new configuration, consisting of three attached town homes targeting the needs of different lifestyles the single executive, the empty nester/active retiree/or relocation buyer and the second/third home buyer. Located in the luxury golf course community of Lake Las Vegas Resort, the selling price of each town home, depending on design and amenities, ranges from $825,000 to $975,000.

Sponsored annually since 1984 by the National Council of the Housing Industry's national organization for building product manufacturers and suppliers) with BUILDER magazine and Home Planners, LCC, The New American Home program was established to showcase residential design trends and shine a spotlight on the latest building products and construction technologies during the International Builders' Show.

Builder Wayne Krygier of AmLand Development, LLC, has collaborated with RNM Architect and Planners' Walt Richardson and interior design specialist Todd Avery-Lenahan of Averybrooks and Associates to construct an environmentally sensitive complex stressing the concepts of comfort and flexibility, including:

* Healthy House construction techniques, (this change is referring to the Healthy House program);

* state-of-the-art building materials;

* Easy-Living home design;

* Energy Star certification; and

* advanced home automation technology.

Highlighting the New American Home 2003 tour was the appearance of celebrity chef Todd English, Bon Appetit's "Restaurateur of the Year" and host of the public television series "Cooking In with Todd English." Mr. English provided a chef's perspective to the three kitchen designs, helping match their functional aspects with the homeowners' lifestyles.
