The February meeting of the Southern Crescent Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) will include a panel discussion on identity theft, featuring the Stop Identity Theft Network.

The February SHRM meeting will be held in the Harry S. Downs Center for Continuing Education on the Clayton State campus in room 101 Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The meeting cost is $10 per person. Continental breakfast will be served.

The Stop Identity Theft Network is a public/private partnership that brings together federal, state and local officials with representatives of major corporations and financial institutions in an effort to stop identity theft in Georgia. The network operates under the guidance of Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker and the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs. A panel from the Network will discuss identity theft, the impact to businesses and other relevant information about this growing problem.

SHRM is the leading voice of the human resource profession and provides information on the current and future challenges and issues facing organizations today. Knowledge is the key to success in any profession, but nowhere is it more important than in the professional trends in human resource management. This is accomplished through education, speakers, seminars, and publications, just to name a few. The Southern Crescent Chapter provides an opportunity for local human resource professionals and those involved with human resource issues to network with others in the profession as well as up-to-date information on issues, concerns, and solutions facing organizations in the 21st century.

Applications and other membership materials will be available at this meeting. For information about Stop Identity Theft, please go to http://www.stopidentitytheft.org.
