Beginning this month, the popular local show "Aging in Georgia" will introduce a new segment entitled "Travel Time."

The new travel segment will air once every three monts. The first one will feature the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

"Aging in Georgia" is aired in Fayette County at 4:30 p.m. every Saturday on channel 19 (AT&T Broadband), and in Coweta County every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on channel 10. The show also airs in south Fulton County.

For almost four years, the program has offered information pertaining to elderly adults including living options, in-home care, Medicare, Medicaid elder law, caregiving tips, long-term care insurance organizations for older adults, and more. The half-hour show travels to local businesses, attorney's offices, healthcare facilities, nursing homes to educate residents regarding options.

"Aging In Georgia" also serves as an information resource. "Anyone desiring answers or information on any topic or issue relating to the age 50 or greater population should not hesitate to contact me at 770-304-0477," said host Gina Weathersby, who has a strong background working with seniors. She has worked as the director for a local bank's senior club, owned a senior care company, worked for a local adult care facility and is well respected in the adult care industry.

Some upcoming guests on the show include the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life chairs, as well as representatives from Spirituality in Aging and American Hearing Centers, who will discuss inner ear problems and the results such as balance problems in older years.

In February Weathersby's favorite guest, her son Luke, will be featured to share his collection of military memorabilia and his passion of patriotism, love for his country and future hopes for his military future.

In the near future the show will move into another arena. Weathersby will be sponsoring a travel and social club for the over-50 age group. Seniors will be able to take advantage of great travel and social opportunities and have the added benefit of possibly seeing their trip televised on a future "Travel Time" segment.

Weathersby hopes to expand the Aging in Georgia show into Gwinnett, DeKalb, and the remainder of Fulton County in the future. Current sponsors are Wesley Woods of Newnan-Peachtree City, Beaulieu Convalescent Center, the Sleep Centers at Newnan Hospital and American Hearing Centers. For sponsorship information, contact Weathersby at 770-253-3353.
