Several people were injured when a Jeep Wrangler flipped over after striking a vehicle that Fayetteville Police say ran a stop sign Tuesday night.

According to reports, Courtney Mathis, 17, of Sharpsburg was attempting to turn right from Lafayette Avenue onto Lanier Avenue when he pulled his Kia Optima into the path of the Wrangler driven by Robert Scogin, 52, of Fayetteville on Lanier.

After the vehicles collided, Scogin's Wrangler flipped, ending up on its roof, police said.

Mathis was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.

Three people, including two passengers in Scogin's vehicle, were taken to the hospital for treatment, according to police.
