Andrew Wallace


Andrew Wallace, 22, Fayetteville, died Dec. 30, 2002. He was born Sept. 30, 1980 in Fulton County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Sam Matthews and the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Terry Wallace, Fayetteville; a brother, Scott Wallace, Fayetteville; a sister, Amy Wallace Fayetteville; and grandparents, John and Anita Parker, College Park, and Joe and Sarah Wallace, Sharpsburg. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

 

Gladys Morgan


Gladys Morgan, 82, Tyrone, died Jan. 6, 2002. She was born Oct. 25, 1921 in Fayette County, the daughter of John and Annie Lou Post Batey. Services were at the Ramah Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Edwards, the Rev. Ralph Bobo and the Rev. William O. “Bill” Priester officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Harold Morgan, Tyrone; a son, Eddie and Diane Morgan, Tyrone; daughters, Jean House, Douglasville, Louise and Leroy Vickery, Palmetto, Mike and Linda Cannon, Newnan; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

 

Waldemar Zimmerman


Waldemar Zimmerman, 75, Blue Ridge, Ga., formerly of Fayetteville, died Jan. 7, 2003. He was born July 26, 1927 in New Liepzig, N. D. He was retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service, and also worked for Boeing Aircraft Company. He was a former member of Timothy Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee and elder, and was a current member of the Shepherd Hills Lutheran Church, Blue Ridge. While living in Fayetteville, he was one of the charter members of Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peachtree City. When the Fayette County courthouse was firebombed in 1982, he built a doll house to be raffled off to help rebuild it. Services were at the Timothy Lutheran Church, Woodstock, Ga., with Pastor Charles E. Reichel officiating. Interment was at the Rolling Hills Memory Gardens, Acworth, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Clara J. Zimmerman, Blue Ridge; a son, Mike W. Zimmerman, California, a 1978 graduate of Fayette County High School; daughters, Patricia Griffith, Louisiana, and Barbara Jenkerson., McDonough; brothers, Victor Zimmerman, Hamilton, Mont., and Julius Zimmerman, Elgin, N. D.; and sisters, Anna Ricketts, Elgin, N. D., and Adeline Zimmerman, Ohio. Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, Kennesaw, was in charge.

Robert C. Alexander


Robert C. Alexander, 83, Fayetteville, died Jan. 9, 2003. He was born Dec. 16, 1919 in Fulton County Memorial services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Howard Alexander officiating. Survivors include a son, Howard and Gail Alexander, Fayetteville; a daughter, Linda Darnell Alexander, Atlanta; a brother, Marvin Alexander, Atlanta; grandchildren, Rebecca and Brian Alexander, Kasey Alexander, and Robert Hale; and a great-grandchildren, Kayley Simmons. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Wilson Evan Foster


Wilson Evan Foster, 86, Fayetteville, died Jan. 9, 2003. He was born Feb. 18, 1916 in Obi, Allegheny County, New York. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Ellis Freeman officiating. Survivors include his wife, Ada Maebelle Lamberton Foster, Fayetteville; a daughter, Sharon and John McMahon, Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Shannon McMahon and Kevin Juedeman, Perry, Sean and Tonya McMahon, Fayetteville, Timothy and Angie McMahon, Cumming, and Brendan McMahon, Marietta. Mildred A. Moore


Mildred A. Moore, 79, Fayetteville, died Jan. 10, 2003. She was born Feb. 7, 1923 in Williamsburg, Rockingham County, N. C. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Allen Parker officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park. Survivors include a son, Dale and Maureen Moore, Sharpsburg; daughters, Sandra and Rick Laney, and Debbie and Ken Ziegfeld, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Derrick Laney, Jason Laney, Stephen Moore, Heather Ziegfeld, Ashley Ziegfeld, Chris Lamb, Bryan Lamb, and Tristan Lamb; great-grandchildren, Travis Lamb and Trinity Lamb; brothers, Cecil Apple, Reidesville, N. Evie Kate Davis Kerlin


Evie Kate Davis Kerlin, 98, Dallas, died Jan. 16, 2003. She was born June 14, 1904 in a log cabin in Fayette County, the daughter of Jodie and Addie Davis, also natives of Fayette County. She was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters, her husband of 47 years, Daniel Kerlin, a native of Fayette County, a daughter, Katheren Kerlin Ragsdale, and a grandson, Curtis Daniel Ragsdale. She resided for many years in East Point, where she was active in the United Methodist church, Russell High School, Eastern Star, and was a longtime sponsor for the Rainbow Girls. Services were at the Davis-Struempf Funeral Home chapel, Austell, with the Rev. Allen Martin officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include great-grandsons Jason Daniel Ragsdale, Curtis Daniel Ragsdale; great-great-grandchildren, Brittany, Loren, Justin, Chris, Kathy, Joseph and William; and nephews, Jack Davis, Mableton, and Ted Walston, Fayette County. Davis-Struempf Funeral Home, Austell, was in charge.

Jean Ann Allison


Jean Ann Allison, 64, Fayetteville, died Jan. 14, 2003. She was born Feb. 23, 1938 in Spokane, Wash. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Randall Harris, the Rev. Marty Roberts, and the Rev. Carlton Swicegood officiating. Interment was at Lisbon Baptist Church Cemetery, Fayetteville. Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Grover Lee Allison, Fayetteville, children, Kathy and Marty Roberts, Douglasville, David and Sadina Jurgens, Conyers, Mary Kay and Rick Barker, Charleston, W. Va., and James and Tawanna Allison, Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren; a brother, George Hazard, Dear Park, Wash.; and a sister, Mary and Bob Wadkins, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Kathie Nordan


Kathie Nordan, 60, Tyrone, died Jan. 14, 2003. She was born May 15, 1942 in Fulton County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel . Survivors include her husband, Paul M. Nordan, Tyrone; a son, Jack and Teresa Cheek, Woodstock, a daughter, Jill and Ken Parkinson Jr.; father, Henry C. Wing Jr., Roswell; brothers, Henry C. Wing III, Ft. Myers, Fla., and Van Wing, Roswell; and seven grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Mycloma Division, c/o Emory Gift Records Department, 809 Gatewood Drive, Atlanta, GA 30322. Patty Bell-Polston


Patty Bell-Polston, 78, Fayetteville, died Jan. 16, 2002. She was born Sept. 30, 1924 in Fulton County. Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Chuck Chambers officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include a son, Rick and Melissa Bell, Brooks; daughters, Linda G. Shedd, Woodstock, Judy and Jimmy White, Locust Grove, and Cindy and Steve Shell, Covington; brothers, Hollis Williams, Riverdale, and Hullon Williams, Fayetteville; a sister, Geraldine Morgan, Forest Park; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Ralph Francis Gettler


Ralph Francis Gettler, 83, Fayetteville, died Jan. 17, 2003. He was born April 10, 1919 in Valley Falls, Jefferson County, Kan., the son of Francis Peter and Genevieve Elizabeth Schrick Gettler. He joined the United States Navy in 1936, serving as an apprentice seaman. He married his first wife in Topeka, Kan. and they married Oct. 10, 1940. He served in World War II, fighting in all the battles along the African coast. He was given a Purple Heart when shot down off Salermo Beach, Sicily. He was also in the battles of Naples and the Anzio. He was in Iwo Jima when the United States Marines raised the United States flag on Mount Suribachi. He was between Okinawa and Japan when kamikazes flew over and sank the ship, he was picked up and transferred to another ship. He was discharged Sept. 21, 1945. He then made his living as a carpenter. He married Emily Queen, who died in 1997. Graveside services were at Camp Memorial Park Cemetery, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Rick Probst officiating. Survivors include a son, Jerome “Jerry” Gettler, Hesparis, Calif.; a daughter, Georgene and Ricky Nelson, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Richard Gettler, Jennifer Gettler, Jerri Ann Gettler, and Samantha Gettler, and Matthew and Sara Nelson; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alexia, Christi and Celeste; and a brother, Donald Gettler, LaPuente, Calif.
