Homeschool attendance reports now kept at records center

Parents of students who are being home schooled in Fayette County are now required to submit their monthly attendance reports to the records center of the Fayette County School System located in the LaFayette Educational Center in Fayetteville.

Previously parents turned in their attendance forms at the Fayette County Board of Education building. The center took over the home study program in October 2002 and has more than 700 student records stored in an Access database for easy retrieval.

Parents who are planning to homeschool their students can download a Letter of Intent form from the Internet by going to www.fcboe.org and clicking on "school departments" and then "home study." Attendance forms can also be downloaded from the same site.

These forms can be mailed, faxed or hand delivered to the records center. Attendance forms are due between the first and 15th of each month.

The records center is located at 205 LaFayette Avenue in Fayetteville. Hours of operation are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The telephone number is 770-460-3990, ext. 227 or 228 and the fax is 770-461-8757.
