Pancake breakfast a huge success

The Peachtree City Kiwanis held its 11th annual Pancake Breakfast, and more than 2,000 people came 2,625, to be exact.

The parking lot and cafeteria of McIntosh High School were full from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. last Saturday.

Butch Hill, who has chaired the event since day one, said that more than $10,000 would be netted, and probably more when the final figures were in.

"Our busiest hour," he said, "was from 10-11 a.m. when we served 748 people."

The funds will all be used in the community to support such projects as the D.A.R.E. programs in Peachtree City, scholarships for McIntosh and Starr's Mill students, the Fayette Youth Protection Homes and many others.

Local organizations contribute to the cause. The Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center donated the pancake batter, the sausage came from the Thomas Packing Company of Griffin, Publix donated the syrup and margarine, Partners II Pizza provided the cutlery, Kwik Kopy helped with the printing of the placemats, and eight banks in Fayette County helped underwrite the event.
