Braelinn makes it two years in a rowBraelinn Elementary has become the first school in the nation to complete its two-year certification as a Positive Label School. The school became the first in the nation to become positive label certified through the Kamaron Institute's Casey program last year. As a two-year certified school, Braelinn will also be honored at the National Museum of Patriotism by having the school's name and a star added to the museum's Casey Citizenship exhibit. Since implementing the positive label program, the school reports a 16-percent decrease in name calling and negative labeling as well as a 24-percent increase of students using positive words and attempting to get along better with each other. "Through the activities associated with this program I have noticed that my students show more empathy toward each other as well as try to treat each other more kindly. It is amazing how many times I now compliment them on their kindness. They in turn feel proud of themselves, giving the whole classroom a positive feel," said teacher Susan Reissing.
