English to speak at Chamber banquet

This year's annual meeting and awards banquet for the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce, slated for Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center, will feature Superior Court Judge Paschal English. "Pappy," as he is known to millions of people who viewed the popular reality TV show "Survivor," was chosen from over 100,000 entrants to appear on the fourth run known as the "Survivor Marquesas" show.

English has served as Superior Court Judge since 1987. Prior to that, he was the Assistant District Attorney in the Griffin Judicial Circuit. He served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1973, and retired as a colonel from the Georgia Air National Guard in 1997. From 1971-1972 he served time in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. More recently he has traveled the country speaking to groups about his life-altering experience on "Survivor," and was also recently named by Jezebel magazine as one of Atlanta's 50 Most Beautiful People.

When asked about the keynote speaker for the event, chamber chairman Mike Hoffrichter remarked, "I am very excited about the participation of Judge English in the Chamber's largest social event this year. He is a perfect example of this year's "Dreambuilders" theme individuals who pursue a dream and make it a reality."

This year's annual meeting is chaired by Nancy Price of Fayetteville Main Street. The invitation was designed by Happy Dog Studios. The price for the event is $85 per person or $850 for a table for 10. Please call the chamber office at 770-461-9983 for further information.
