I think I smell a rat!

Some Fairburn residents are disturbed by rats coming from out of the sewers and into their homes.

Mary Lynn Mullis and her sister-in-law, Joan Mullis both long-term residents of Fairburn, recently brought forth a complaint in Monday night's city council meeting that they have found rats more than once swimming in the commodes of their bathrooms.

"It liked to have scared me to death to wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and there's a rat diving in and swimming around in the commode," said Mary Mullis.

She said that seeing something like that could cause a person to have a heart attack.

Mullis told the City Council that something has got to be done about this problem.

Both Mullis women perceive that the rats, evidently, are coming from out of the sewers.

They claimed they've even called City Hall and the police about the rats.

Mary Mullis says she's used to seeing rats out of the dumpsters from behind the Quality Food store, but never thought she would see them in her commodes .

The City Council said they wanted to review and settle the rat issue soon as possible.
