Edwards is vice chair of Board

Fulton County District 7 Commissioner William "Bill" Edwards was appointed vice chair of the seven member Board of Commissioners in a vote of acclamation by his colleagues today, at the January 8 board meeting.

He will hold the title one year, presiding over meetings when chairman Mike Kenn is not present. The vice chair position is decided annually among the members of the board. The chairman is a four-year seat elected by voters county-wide.

The district Edwards represents as a commissioner includes unincorporated South Fulton and Southwest Fulton County; the cities of College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Union City, and Palmetto; and a portion of southwest Atlanta.

Vice chair Edwards joined the Board in 2000, when he was elected to fill an unexpired term in the District 7 seat. He ran unopposed in the 2002 general election.
