The Fairburn City Council put the brakes on development Monday night.

The City Council adopted a resolution establishing a moratorium on the acceptance of all new applications and proceedings for rezoning of property, and also applications and votes on annexation and subsequent rezoning of property into the city limits of Fairburn.

The new comprehensive zoning ordinance and zoning map for the city of Fairburn have been amended on numerous occasions for the past seven years in an effort to keep up with the changing needs of a growing and evolving community.

This moratorium will expire July 15 and will not be extended.

In other news, the City Council set a qualifying fee of $27 for November's general election.

The council also designated the South Fulton Citizen, South Fulton Neighbor, Fulton Daily Report, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution as official legal organs for the City of Fairburn.
