National aircraft parts business relocating to PTC By JOHN MUNFORD An aircraft parts supply business that takes "fly-in" traffic will relocate to Peachtree City's Falcon Field in the near future. Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Company, which is currently located in Griffin, will be moving its eastern regional distribution center to a location adjacent to the airport property. The company's catalog currently features a map to both its locations in Griffin and in California, and Airport Authority Chairwoman Cathy Nelmes anticipates a map to Peachtree City will be incorporated in the new version. "It's going to put Peachtree City on the map for the aviation community," Nelmes said. The catalog's popularity among small aircraft owners is similar to the popularity of the Sears Wish Book among Christmas-wishing children in days gone by. "Everybody's got one," Nelmes said of the Spruce catalog. The company will also add 50 employees to the community, Nelmes said, thanking the Fayette County Development Authority and the Development Authority of Peachtree City for their help in attracting the company here. The Peachtree City Planning Commission unanimously approved the concept plan for the office-warehouse building, which will be located on Dividend Drive adjacent to Falcon Field. The commission asked company representatives to work with city staff to reduce the number of parking spaces from the 107 proposed with the original plan.
