More stop signs headed for Senoia?

Does Senoia need more stop signs?

That's the issue the city's Police Department will study for the next month after a resident asked the city to place additional stop signs on Main Street.

Pat Thompson told the City Council that she would like to see stop signs placed at the intersection of Main and Middle streets.

Thompson said the intersection has poor visibility because of overhanging trees and she's concerned about children playing near the road.

The city has recently placed stop signs at Pylant and Seavy streets which, Mayor Dianne Cleveland said, have had mixed impressions from the residents.

"I've had people telling me it was a good thing, and others saying they've been running the stop signs because they're not used to them," she said.

Cleveland instructed the Police Department to do a study on the intersection and bring a report back to the February council meeting. She also instructed city administrator Murray McAfee to see if the Department of Transportation could offer insight into the situation.
