Mary Beckom
Mary Dorothy Beckham, 63, Sharpsburg, formerly of Fayetteville, died Dec. 12, 2002. She was born in Fayette County, the daughter of Herman and Pauline Brown. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Brown, and a sister, Ruby Powell. She moved with her family to Sharpsburg in 1973.
Graveside services were at the Sharpsburg Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Mike Ayers officiating.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Bobby Beckham, Sharpsburg; a son, Tim and Lisa Beckham, Sharpsburg; daughters, Sandra and Gary Brown, Luthersville, and Barbara and Rodney Byrom, Moreland; a sister, Martha Gwin, Fayetteville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Christopher Betts
Christopher R. Betts, 26, Newnan, died Dec. 22, 2002. He lost his life in the line of duty as a policeman for the city of East Point. He was born Feb. 16, 1976 in Lima, Ohio. He had been in the Georgia National Guard, after serving five years in the United States Army. He had been with the East Point police for two years.
A funeral mass was held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Atlanta, with the Rev. Father Kevin Peek officiating.
Interment was with full military honors at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Sebacher Betts, Newnan; a seven week-old son, Trenton James Betts, Newnan; parents, Robert and Marianne Betts, Lima, Ohio; brothers, Jason Betts, Columbus, Ohio, and Brian Betts, Lima, Ohio; sisters, Jennifer Betts, and Stephanie Betts, both of Lima, Ohio; paternal grandparents, Mary Shaner and Marlin Betts, both of Lima, Ohio; maternal grandparents, Robert and Lyn Schomer, Lima, Ohio; paternal great-grandmother Lula Yochum, Lima, Ohio.
Memorial donations may be made to a Trust Fund for Officer Christopher R. Betts at any Bank of American branch.

Mary Kidd
Mary Will Kidd, 83, Newnan, died Dec. 29, 2002. She was born April 6, 1919 in Oxford, Ala. She was retired from Newnan Utilities.
Services were at the Newnan Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Harry Barrow officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters, Frances Kidd, Atlanta, and Susan Kidd, Los Angeles, Calif.; and sisters, Evelyn Jones, and Grace Johnson.

Lauralee Davis
Lauralee Pate Davis, 56, Newnan, died Dec. 29, 2002. She was born Aug. 2, 1948 in Newnan. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Pate.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ray Freeman officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis Davis, Newnan; mother, Mildred Rainwater Pate, Newnan; sons, Roger Huddleston and Michael Meran, both of Newnan; a stepson, Michael Davis, Newnan; brothers, Harold and Sandy Pate, and Sammy and Jane Pate.

Shaun Hopkins
Shaun Patrick Hopkins, 3 months old, Senoia, died Dec. 30, 3003. He was born Sept. 4, 2002 in Fulton County.
Graveside services were at Pine Mountain City Cemetery, Pine Mountain, Ga.
Survivors include his parents, Shaun and Amy Hopkins, Senoia; siblings, Jacob Hopkins and Sydney Hopkins, both of Senoia; grandparents, Richard and Rita Hopkins, Peachtree City, and Kirk and Linda McDaniel, Fayetteville; and great-grandmother, Elizabeth Johnston, Peachtree City.
Memorial donations may be made to the Egleston Sibley Heart Center or Cross Roads Baptist Church, Sharpsburg.

Lucy Thornton
Lucy Eva Thornton 86, Newnan, died Jan. 2, 2003. She was born Dec. 24, 1916 in Tolbert County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wayne Thornton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newnan and had lived in Grantville most of her life before moving to Newnan in 1984.
Graveside services were at the Grantville City Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy and Herbie Williams, Newnan; grandsons, James Williams, and Jeff and Beth Williams, all of Newnan; a granddaughter, Robin and Tim Windom, Sparta, N. J.; great-grandchildren; Alex Williams, Daven Williams, and Katie Beth Williams, all of Newnan; and brothers, Herbert Cooke, Jeffersonville, and Millard Cooke, Manchester.
