Mary Dorothy Beckham
Mary Dorothy Beckham, 63, Sharpsburg, formerly of Fayetteville, died Dec. 12, 2002. She was born in Fayette County, the daughter of Herman and Pauline Brown. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Brown, and a sister, Ruby Powell. She moved with her family to Sharpsburg in 1973. Graveside services were at the Sharpsburg Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Mike Ayers officiating. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Bobby Beckham, Sharpsburg; a son, Tim and Lisa Beckham, Sharpsburg; daughters, Sandra and Gary Brown, Luthersville, and Barbara and Rodney Byrom, Moreland; a sister, Martha Gwin, Fayetteville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
Dr. Anne Carrington-Gawne
Dr. Anne Carrington-Gawne, 45, Peachtree City, died Dec. 15, 2002. She was born in California. She was a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician and was well known for her involvement and research with polio survivors. She had been with the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation for the last five years. A memorial service was held at the Warm Springs campus. Interment was at Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tenn. Survivors include her husband, Tim Gawne, Peachtree City; a son, Andrew John Gawne, Peachtree City; a daughter, Elizabeth Anne Gawne, Peachtree City; father, Robert Avery Carrington, California; mother, Jeanne Carrington, Seattle, Wash.; and a brother, Jim Carrington, California.. Gloria Stewart
Gloria Stewart, 67, Fayetteville, died Dec. 21, 2002. She was born Aug. 7, 1935 in Charleston, V. Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Stewart Sr. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include a son, Paul Stewart, Riverdale: daughters, Debbie Ackermann, Stockbridge, Teresa Moore, Riverdale, and Valerie Snell, Fayetteville; brothers, Lindy Justice, and Junior Justice, both of Charleston, W. Va.; sisters, Glada Gaunch, and Gladys Riggs, both of Charleston; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
William Edward Haislip
William Edward “Bill” Haislip, 61, Fayetteville, died Dec. 22, 2002. He was born July 25, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward S. Haislip, and a brother, Robert S. Haislip. He was a 1959 graduate of Russell High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea from 1959 to 1961. Graveside services were at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Roger A. Davis officiating. Survivors include his mother, Garnette Haislip; a son, William “Eddie” Haislip Jr.; a daughter, Wendi Haislip; a sister, Janice P. Mazur; and three grandchildren. Carl J. Yvette Rosanna Pizar
Yvette Rosanna Pizar, 84, Peachtree City, died Dec. 24, 2002. She was born Jan. 3, 1918 in Moosup, Conn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael E. Pizar, and a son, Douglas Pizar. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Father John Walsh officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn, Newnan. Survivors include a son, Michael E. Pizar Jr., Peachtree City; a sister, Lena Dawson, St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home.
John Carey Woerner
John Carey Woerner, 72, Hampton, died Dec. 25, 2002. He was born Nov. 26,1930 in Stuttgart, Ark. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Korean conflict. He retired in 1988 as the manager of Matheson Gas Company with 25 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman. Graveside services were at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife, Fern Woerner, Hampton; sons, Kent and Kathie Woerner, Fayetteville, Scott and Marianne Woerner, Sautee, Ga., and Clay and Debbie Woerner, Hampton; daughters, Christi and Mark Friend, Hampton, and Tammie and Steve McDaniel, Jasper; 13 grandchildren; and brothers, Howard and Katherine Woerner, and Joe and Joyce Sease, all of Texas. Janet Lugo
Janet Lugo, 60, Fayetteville, died Dec. 25, 2002. She was born June 8, 1942 in Cook County, Ill. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Peachtree City. No services were held. Survivors include her husband, James Lugo, Fayetteville; sons, Daniel Lugo, Houston, Texas, David Lugo, Newnan, and James F. Lugo, Woodstock; a daughter, Natalie Lugo, Fayetteville; a brother, Frank Boyce, Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Darlene Boyce, Los Angeles, Calif.; and grandchildren, Lauren Lugo and Olivia Lugo, both of Newnan, and Damien Lugo, Woodstock. Lillian Frances Wallace
Lillian Frances Wallace, 77, Fairburn, Fayette County, died Dec. 23, 2002. She was born July 21, 1925 in Fulton County. She was an active member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church since 1955. Services were at the Sandy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Johnson officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, John O. Wallace; sons, John O. Wallace Jr., Fairburn, and Patrick M. Wallace, Atlanta; daughters, Joan D. Wallace, Melody L. Mindler, and Peggy E. Wallace, all of Fayette County, Elizabeth K. Heath, Rex, and Robin D. Milam, Tyrone; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Vinson, Land O'Lakes, Fla.; a sister, Mildred Butler, Acworth. Carl J. William Beasley Brown
William Beasley Brown, 84, Fairburn, died Dec. 25, 2002. He was born May 4, 1918 in Fayette County, the son of Willie and Allean Snead Brown. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He worked in the trucking industry for 43 years and retired from GFA Transportation in 1981. After retiring, he remained active operating Rainbow Systems Car Washes in several locations. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairburn. Services were at the First Baptist Church of Fairburn with the Rev. Frank Knuckle and the Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Interment was at Sharon Memorial Gardens, Tyrone. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Julia Farr Brown, Fairburn; sons, Kenneth and Gloria Brown, Leesburg, Fla., Chuck and Patti Brown, Fayetteville, and Philip and Jennifer Brown, Fairburn; a daughter, Rebecca and Ernest Jernigan, Fairburn; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Doug and Frances Farr, F. M. and Evelyn Farr, and Eddie and Zelma Farr; sisters-in-law, Betty and Roy Barefoot, and Shirley and Kenneth Presley; and a special aunt, “Miss Lizzie” Brown, age 111 years. Carl J.
