The Fayette Samaritans are seeking supplies from the public in their continuing mission to aid Fayette residents with immediate, urgent needs of food, clothing, shelter and transportation. Following are items needed in bulk this month by the nonprofit aid group:

1. 2 lb. bags of corn meal.

2. 1 lb. bags of rice.

3. Baby diapers (sizes 7 and up).

4. Bathroom tissue.

5. Instant potatoes.

6. Apple juice.

7. 1 lb. bags of dry pinto beans.

8. Jams and jellies.

9. Pasta sauce.

10. Cereals.

The Samaritans, a 12-year-old organization devoted to operating a food and clothing bank, also announced its building fund now amounts to $34,486.

The group has always used loaned facilities and hopes to build its own facility.

The amount given to date came from 326 Fayette County residents, 15 churches or related groups, a school, three civic organizations, and four businesses. Of the individual persons, 27 of them are volunteers or board members of the Samaritans. Together they gave over $3,000, which allowed the organization to match a grant given them.

The organization is primarily supported by nearly 40 churches. It is located at 213 Jeff Davis Place, Suite 102, Fayetteville, near the IHOP restaurant and can be reached at 770-719-2707. It is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon. They accept donated items as well as cash during these hours.
