Collins surveys business community

In an effort to identify trends in the regional economy, Congressman Mac Collins is conducting a survey of businesses in the Eighth Congressional District.

The survey, distributed by the 18 chambers of commerce in the Eighth Congressional District, will create a snapshot of the economic health of the region and is a tool used by Congressman Collins to help formulate legislative priorities in the 108th Congress. By taking the pulse of businesses in the district, he can make informed decisions about upcoming legislation and also propose needed measures and reforms to help stimulate business growth, higher employment, and overall economic stability across the Middle Georgia region.

Additionally, this information allows business and community leaders the benefit of a broader regional snapshot of the health of their business economy. Congressman Collins will make the compiled information available to all of the Eighth Congressional District Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Congressional leadership, White House, the Governor, the Georgia State Chamber, and others seeking information on Middle Georgia's economy.

In addition to the printed survey distributed by the chambers, business owners and managers can respond via an online form at www.house.gov/maccollins/bussurvey.html.

"It is very important that Congress focus on the economy when we reconvene in January," said Collins. "Throughout my ten years representing Middle Georgia, I have tried to be very attentive to the people who live and work here. This information will help me to focus attention based upon the specific needs of my constituents to help stimulate the economy from a regional perspective."

To have the most impact for the 108th Congress, Collins has asked all respondents to return the completed surveys by Jan. 13.
