Duncan Park fate still not sealed By JOHN THOMPSON
The final fate of Fairburn's Duncan Park will not be settled until after the holidays. That's the verdict from Fairburn City Administrator Jim Williams, who plans to meet with Fulton County officials in the new year. When the park was shut down at the end of November, the biggest challenge facing the city was several children who stayed at the park for an after-school program. Williams said a local church stepped into the situation and is now providing a place for the displaced students. Fulton County is providing transportation to the church until Christmas, and then church officials will take over the transportation after the holidays. Williams also wants to end any misconceptions about the city's efforts in keeping the park open. "We've done everything we can do. We even offered to amend our budget to pay for some of the programs," he said. When he meets with Fulton County, Williams plans to stress the importance of the park to the community and hopes to get it up and running by the spring.
