White color temporary for PTC City Hall; beige will come back

Anybody holding out hope for a white Christmas in Peachtree City couldn't have imagined it this way.

City Hall is currently displaying a white exterior, thanks to a coat of sealant added to the exterior of the building's brick wall. The sealant's color is white, but citizens should be assured the normal old non-obtrusive beige will make a comeback.

"It's not permanent, we promise, we promise, we promise," public information officer Betsy Tyler said of the white color.

The building will be repainted its original beige color sometime before the end of February when the project ends, Tyler said. The $29,970 project was authorized by the city council at its Nov. 7 meeting after it was discovered the bricks were absorbing water, she added.

The problem wasn't discovered until an interior renovation at City Hall was performed including new wallpaper in the city council chambers.

Tyler noted the building is already 10 years old.
