PTC police nab drug store thiefs By JOHN
MUNFORD
Peachtree City police caught two suspects with over $3,000 in stolen property taken from the Eckerd drug store on Ga. Highway 54 near Peachtree Parkway last week. The suspects were pulled over during a traffic stop Dec. 12 after a citizen reported a suspicious person in the store. The caller described "what he believed to be two people stealing from inside the store," according to police. Police arrested Matthew Showalter, 30, of Signal Mountain, Tenn., for shoplifting, theft by receiving stolen property, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance. Penny Peterson, 31, of Rossville was arrested for possession of heroin, shoplifting and giving a false name to a police officer. Police had warrants out for Showalter and Peterson already for a similar incident that occurred at the CVS drug store several weeks before. Police found additional items inside the suspects' vehicle that may have been taken from other stores. Police are working with other jurisdictions in metro Atlanta to determine the origin of the other property found in the vehicle.
