Habitat seeks holiday help

Most of you know of my involvement with Habitat locally and I have now reduced myself to begging. Not for me, but for a very deserving family.

We have a house closing set for Dec. 23, but we are just a mere $5,000-6,000 short of being able complete and close on this house.

If we can raise this money and close Dec. 23, it means that one more family is added to our property tax base. It means that another slum house is emptied and left with the possibility of being condemned. It means that two young girls will have a safe, clean place to study, play and sleep at night.

The Vanderford family has been renting a slum house for the past several years, simply because they can not afford the high cost of a decent apartment for five. Their "slumlord" refuses to make necessary repairs. It has been their dream to celebrate Christmas in their new warm decent home.

I'm asking you to ask your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and church families for just a small donation no amount is too small!! Every donation to Habitat is completely tax deductible.

Checks can be made and sent to:Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 2607, Newnan, GA 30264.

With this house complete, Habitat will have 19 homes in the county. Since all Habitat homes are paid for in advance, each of these 19 mortgage payments paid to Habitat, go towards building more homes. Each new homeowner directly impacts our tax base and ultimately helps to eliminate more slumlord shacks from our community. Your contribution is not just a donation, but also an investment in our community.

God will surely bless you for your gracious gift and the Vanderford family will be extremely grateful!!! I wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season. May God bless each and every one of you.
