Wednesday, December 11, 2002 Metro Brokers reaches out to Hispanic community Four real estate agents and one loan officer all associates of Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate have begun reaching out to prospective homebuyers of Atlanta's burgeoning Hispanic community through a series of TV commercials. Airing on WUVG Channel 34, Atlanta's 24-hour Univision station, the ads target the some 347,000 Hispanic residents of metro Atlanta. Since 1990, this community has grown 405 percent, from 68,739 to 347,207 (U.S. Census, 1990 and 2000). The Hispanic community has a number of obstacles to overcome in purchasing a home already a daunting task, as it is perhaps the largest investment any of us will ever make. Besides the obvious language barrier, there are other issues. Those who have recently immigrated to the U.S. may find themselves without a solid credit history or may have minimal (or no) funds for a down payment. A new mortgage program offered by Metro Brokers Financial called "Home Solutions" addresses precisely these needs. Being able to discuss these and other facets of finding and financing a home is key to helping the Hispanic community. For that reason, Orlando Velarde, Metro Brokers' Spanish-speaking loan officer, got together with Metro Brokers agents Gustavo Castano, Alexander Gonzalez, Myra Quintero and Ismael Castiblanco to discuss how to best reach Spanish-speaking Atlantans who are in the market for a home. "We felt it was important for this community to get to know Metro Brokers and Metro Brokers Financial because we have a lot to offer 1200 realtors and 19 offices around Atlanta," said Velarde. "Our emphasis is to provide honesty, service excellence and efficiency to the home buyer." By pooling their resources, the five associates could communicate directly with their audience while sharing both the TV spotlight and the cost. Dac Carver, Director of Marketing and New Home Services for Metro Brokers/GMAC Real Estate, assisted in purchasing and producing a package of ads with Univision. A total of 55 spots per month will run for four months. There will be a hiatus during December, with spots resuming in January. "As the sole Spanish-language TV station in Atlanta, Univision is the perfect medium for delivering our message," stated Carver. "It is the Hispanic community's single most important source of information, news and entertainment." WUVG Channel 34 Univision is an affiliate of Univision Communications, Inc. the premier Spanish-language media company in the United States, which is headquartered in Los Angeles.
