Flat Rock student hit by car before schoolA student at Flat Rock Middle School suffered minor injuries after she was hit by a vehicle Friday morning while on a crosswalk in front of the school, authorities said. The student, whose name was not released, was treated and released from Southern Regional Medical Center the same day, said Capt. Bryan Woodie of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. The driver of the vehicle, Leslie J. Patton, 49, of Sharpsburg, was actually one of the student's teachers, Woodie said. Patton's 1995 Toyota pickup was traveling east on Jenkins Road when it struck the victim, who was in the crosswalk in front of the school. Deputies were considering filing a traffic citation against Patton but have not yet done so, Woodie said Monday. John Munford
