County dislikes but OKs F'ville annexations anyway By JOHN
THOMPSON
Two annexation requests got the green light last week from the Fayette County Commission. The first request came from Fayetteville, who wanted to annex 39 acres at the intersection of Redwine and Price Roads. Greater Atlanta Construction Company wants to develop a residential subdivision at the site. In July, the applicant requested annexation for 17 acres for a high-rise townhome community featuring 72 units, but was turned down. But in November, an addition 22 acres was added to the plan and the zoning requested was changed to single family homes on one acre lots. The developer plans to build 35 homes on the site. County zoning director Kathy Zeitler said the new zoning request is consistent with the county's land use plan for low density in the area and said the staff did not have an objection to the annexation. The commission voted unanimously not to object to the annexation. The second request came from the town of Tyrone. Tyrone asked to annex nearly 98 acres of Coastline Road for a subdivision. John Wieland Homes asked for the annexation because it currently has a subdivision surrounding the parcel and would like to see all of the subdivision in the same municipal jurisdiction and allow all services to be provided by Tyrone. The commission unanimously voted to let the property be annexed into Tyrone.
