Free ride, tow offered by AAA to keep drunk drivers off roads for holiday season

Adults who need a ride home from bars or restaurants this holiday season can get a free ride home and have their vehicle towed home with them thanks to a new program to reduce the number of drunk drivers on area roads.

The "Tow to Go" program is being offered throughout metro Atlanta as a way for adults who may have had too much to drink to arrive home safely. The program is offered by AAA Auto Club South and Budweiser.

Adults who need a ride can call 1-800-AAA-HELP, and the club will dispatch a tow truck to take the driver and vehicle home, free of charge. The services is available to everyone, regardless of whether they are a member of AAA or not.

"Last year, Tow to Go kept more than 1,200 potential drunk drivers off Florida's and Atlanta's roadways," said Ed Schatzman, vice president of automotive services for AAA Auto Club South. "This year, Tow to Go is expanding into the Nashville area, so we are hopeful that the number of potential lives saved by Tow to Go will be even larger."
